Earlier this year, Shiny Toy Guns announced that they would be reuniting for the first time in years to celebrate their first album, We Are Pilots on a 10 year anniversary tour. Stated by singer/songwriter Carah Faye, New York City had to be included on one of the five concert dates considering this was the city they created We Are Pilots.

This was my first concert in months, and it’s safe to say that I was very happy and excited that I had this opportunity. Savoir Adore, a pop-rock duo from Brooklyn, NY opened the show.

From tambourines to cowbells, the group brought a dance party to the stage with a lot of upbeat, catchy tunes. The sounds from the Roland keyboard bought a lot of attention to my ears - especially in the last song that they played, Giants (most definitely one of my favorites). Savoir Adore brings a lot of message in their lyrics as well. If you listen to their song Giants, you’ll see what I mean.

There are no words to express my excitement for the start of Shiny Toy Guns’ performance. Seeing them all together again - Mikey, Chad, Carah, Jeremy - brought tears to my eyes. This band has brought a lot of light in my life growing up, so being able to hear them live was an experience I will never forget.

As Carah Faye was talking about their song, We Are Pilots (last track on the album) she mentioned how so many people have thanked her, because this song has helped them come out to their parents. If you listen to the chorus:

I’m really not that crazy

Why you think there’s something wrong with me?

And it hurt so bad

And it was something that really touched my heart after being surrounded by so many people that sang along and applaud for those who this is about. So thank you.

Shiny Toy Guns, we hope you release more music! Because you have brought a lot of love, and we give it back.
